Today I want to talk about Ann Coulter's recent comments in her column titled, “your to-do list to save America” At the end of her column she writes, “If you are considering voting for the Libertarian candidate in any Senate election, please send me your name and address so I can track you down and drown you.“...
Today I want to talk about Ann Coulter's recent comments in her column titled, “your to-do list to save America” At the end of her column she writes, “If you are considering voting for the Libertarian candidate in any Senate election, please send me your name and address so I can track you down and drown you.“
I know it's an idle threat but we need to realize that she actually represents a percentage of voting Republicans. She has an audience who looks up to her. She is instructing her supporters to be afraid of us. To blame Libertarians if a Republican loses. This type of pass the blame thinking is why our country is in such a poor state.
If a Republican candidate loses, it's not because of Libertarians. That candidate didn’t do a good enough job of convincing the voters to vote for them.
If a Libertarian loses it’s because we haven't reached out to enough people. We don’t blame Republicans, or Democrats because of a loss.
So, what she is doing is gearing up her base to get angry at Libertarians if a Republican loses. So instead of putting the blame on themselves, or their positions, or their corruption and cronyism. She wants her supporters to think about drowning Libertarians as the solution.
Here’s what I think we as Libertarians should do. We need to drown her in votes. Here is my one to-do task for you today. Donate or volunteer with the Libertarian candidate who is running for office closest to you. In my case, I just donated $10 to Tim Turner who is running for Washington State House of Representatives in the 48th District. With only 6 weeks left in the campaign season, every dollar is needed to purchase marketing materials.
I’m going to leave you with one of my favorite quotes that I always think about when I hear someone bashing Libertarians, “Success is the best revenge.”
